What is an adjective?
An adjective is a describing word. It tells more about a noun — what kind or how many.

What kind or how many?
Adjectives answer two questions:

| How many? | three, several, many, some |
Finding the adjective
Find the noun first, then ask “which word tells more about it?”
The tiny ant crawled. → noun: ant → adjective: tiny
Making writing vivid
Compare:
I saw a dog. → I saw a shaggy brown dog.
The adjectives paint a clearer picture. Readers can almost see the dog.
Adding adjectives to your writing
Choose adjectives that fit the noun and add real detail — don’t just pile on words.

How to practice at home
