Verbs that break the -ed rule
Most verbs form the past with -ed (walk → walked), but irregular verbs change the whole word: go → went, see → saw, eat → ate. There’s no rule to follow — they’re learned by using them.

Worked example
“We ___ to the beach last summer.” (go / went) The clue is last summer (past) and go is irregular → went.
How to solve each item
Listen for the past clue words (yesterday, last week, ago) and pick the irregular form. If you’re unsure between two forms, say the sentence aloud — the correct one will sound right.
