Ten more and ten less is counting up or back by one ten. The ones digit doesn’t change — 35, 45, 55 — only the tens digit does. It’s the fastest way to build place value fluency.
How to use it
Say the number, then “hop” one ten forward or back. When you cross 99, the hundreds digit grows (99 → 109). Review skip counting, then try hundreds, tens, and ones.

Point out that only the tens digit changes: 35 → 45 → 55. Crossing a ten (99 → 109) is the one tricky spot.
